POLICIES AND AGREEMENTS

Santa Barbara County 4-H Code of Ethics for 4-H Members, Leaders, and Chaperones

STATE LAW
Prohibits possession and use of alcohol by persons under 21 in any public place, street, or highway.

The possession and use of narcotics, restricted dangerous drugs (without prescription), and certain weapons by persons of any age is a criminal offense in California, except as otherwise provided for by law. Persons found in the possession of, or using such items, at a 4-H event or fair will be detained and released to the nearest law enforcement agency and/or proper authorities.

COMMON COURTESY
The high standards of 4-H are to be maintained at all times. This includes the respect for the rights, safety, and the property of others. Should any 4-H member(s) violate these standards or laws, the adult in charge of the event and/or corresponding chaperone may immediately suspend the participation of the 4-H member(s) and, if deemed necessary, contact the proper authorities. They should immediately notify the parent(s) or guardian(s). The parent(s) or guardian(s) may be asked to arrange, at their own expense, for the immediate removal of the 4-H member(s).

CHAPERONES
There shall be at least one (1) adult volunteer leader, at least 25 years of age, acting as chaperone, for each (10) members or portion thereof, present at any 4-H-sponsored function or other functions that 4-H members participate in, such as fairs, and special events. A chaperone observing unacceptable behavior has authority to act immediately to correct the situation.

To insure success of future 4-H functions, full compliance with the above CODE OF ETHICS will be expected at all times by those in attendance.

Our signatures indicate that we have read and agree to comply with above Code of Ethics:
